Janet Stone Herman
Janet Stone Herman is a talent development expert and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) professional and trusted advisor to organizational leaders on a wide range of DEI and personnel matters. Janet leverages her track record of creating and leading large-scale talent and DEI programs, managing cross-functional teams, and analyzing data to assist organizations to strategically build and develop a global diverse workforce. Janet’s consulting work includes creating and designing programs, initiatives, and experiences that dramatically improve employee engagement and retention.
In her coaching and teaching practice, Janet develops executives and supports emerging leaders in making the important and necessary shift from individual producer to team leader. Janet’s orientation is all about supporting the adaptive growth of leaders, and one of her leadership/coaching stories was featured in the bestseller, Ask For More.
As Director of Attorney Development and Women’s Initiatives at Morrison & Foerster LLP, Janet pioneered and launched the firm’s attorney training, development, and DEI functions, and for two decades managed staff responsible for its global 1,000+ attorneys. During her tenure at MoFo she imagined and executed many cutting-edge engagement programs including during the pandemic — one of which was featured in the NY Times.
Janet practiced law at regional and global firms, representing public and emerging high-technology companies on matters including venture financing, public financing, and mergers and acquisitions. She was an expert in executive compensation.
She is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) through the Coaches Training Institute. Janet is a Member of the California Bar, having earned her law degree at UC Davis King Hall, and her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from UC Berkeley.
